Well, I got camp moved up to the fourth pitch anchor (two pitches for me) as I hoped last week. I’m back at home this week for a family reunion that was planned for a long time. So, next week I’ll be back in Utah to finish this thing up.
If it weren’t for all the “reworking” of the route I’m forced to do, it would go much faster, but I’m determined to turn this thing into something sustainable and repeatable. Perhaps I’m tilting at windmills here, but I just can’t bring myself to bail or to just leave it as a botch.
Really, the scariest part of this thing is that the wall is so “corrugated” that even short falls can mess me up. There have been so many spots in which even a 10-foot fall would have been bad. There just are not “clean” falls to be had on this route. So, it’s not “hard” in terms of rating (nothing like the FA team said). But it is hard in that even A2 or A3 is pretty scary because of all the bad landings.
It’s nice to rest up a bit at home. But next week I’ll be back in the saddle.
